ART DIRECTION • GRAPHIC DESIGN • MOTION GRAPHICS
For my dynamic typography class at SCAD, I was tasked with selecting an audio clip and animating accompanying type. I chose one of my favorite scenes from The Office (Season 5, Episode 14), where Michael Scott has his employees take a CPR course. The scene is filled with awkward humor, off-key singing, and CPR dummies that certainly don't get revived. Given the dry nature of the humor, I wanted to mirror that tone by keeping the design and motion simple and minimal. It was a challenge to resist overcomplicating things, but I focused on maintaining a clean, understated approach that complemented the scene's subtle absurdity. To push myself further, I chose to work with a square frame instead of the usual 16:9, experimenting with different dimensions and framing to present the media in a fresh way.
