Hi, I'm Lindsey Haywood
I grew up near Orlando, home to theme parks, alligators, and famous Publix Pub Subs. While I grew up in the Sunshine State, my childhood wasn’t always the sunniest. At nine years old, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, an autoimmune disease in which the pancreas no longer produces insulin. Taking on such a major responsibility at a young age was challenging, but the experience shaped my perspective and taught me empathy, resilience, and self-awareness that continue to influence both my life and my work.
For my undergraduate studies, I moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Digital Arts and Sciences Engineering. My time at UF gave me irreplaceable experiences, meaningful friendships, and a strong technical foundation. After graduating in December 2018, I knew I wanted to continue my education. When I discovered the Motion Media Design MFA program at SCAD, it felt like the perfect intersection of my interests in animation and graphic design. I completed my graduate degree in the summer of 2023.
My creative work is deeply influenced by my past, my surroundings, and the people I care about. I’m drawn to storytelling rooted in emotion, nostalgia, and human connection. I consider myself a colorful, bright individual, and I believe that energy is reflected throughout my portfolio.
Outside of creating, you’ll find me traveling, petting my cat, spending time with friends, exploring new restaurants, or heading to a Pilates class. I’m also an avid lover of all things astrology. I’m a Cancer sun (which might explain my love for nostalgia), Sagittarius moon, and Taurus rising, for those who are wondering.
