This MFA thesis explores the integration of motion graphics into themed experiences, focusing on how motion can shape the way guests interact with media and physical space. The project investigates how motion graphics can transform environments and create more immersive, participatory experiences.
Motion graphics are positioned as an active storytelling component, influencing how guests explore, interpret, and engage with their surroundings. By rethinking the traditional cinematic proscenium, the project emphasizes framing, timing, and spatial context as tools for granting guests a sense of autonomy and control, encouraging imaginative and embodied engagement.
The studio component of the thesis, Clue in the Park, uses augmented reality (Adobe Aero) to bring physical clues to life through a guest’s phone via QR codes. Each motion-based narrative moment is a riddle that guests discover and solve, guiding them through the experience at their own pace. QR codes shown in the video are live links and can be used to view and test the AR experience.
