At the start of my Professional Internship in January 2022, while working as a Graphic Design Intern on the Safety Communications Team, I identified an opportunity to bridge the gap between physical safety and mental well-being. I believe that Cast Members cannot be truly physically safe if they do not also feel supported mentally and emotionally. Drawing from my own experience with affirmations and their impact on mental well-being, I independently developed I Am Disney, an ongoing internal program designed to uplift, encourage, and empower Cast Members.
Each month, the Safety Communications Team releases a new affirmation inspired by Disney films and parks, using visual storytelling to reinforce positive messaging while remaining aligned with Disney’s brand voice and internal communication standards. To scale this across Disney Experiences, I built a cohesive asset framework and visual system so the affirmations could be seamlessly distributed as Cast-exclusive assets, including posters, video conference backgrounds, and phone wallpapers.
I also architected and currently oversee the dedicated internal web pages (DX Safety Cast Life Site) for the program, managing its layout, user flow, and information structure to make sure Cast Members can easily navigate the platform and download their monthly assets. The program reaches thousands of Cast Members each month and consistently drives high engagement through downloads and interaction on these internal platforms. I Am Disney reframes safety communication as not only informational, but human-centered, supporting Cast Members both onstage and backstage.
This project reflects my approach to design as a tool for visual storytelling, user connection, care, and meaningful impact at scale.
